Message from the Founder

Jamarro Johnson is a linguist and language access professional whose work centers on second language acquisition, cross cultural communication, and advancing equitable access through language. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Contigo Language Company, he leads a language services firm dedicated to helping individuals, institutions, and organizations communicate effectively across languages and cultures.

 

Johnson’s passion for language began through the influence of his language educators and grew as he immersed himself in opportunities to study language and culture whenever possible. That early inspiration shaped both his academic path and professional commitment to language education and language access.

 

Earlier in his career, Johnson served as a Bilingual Assistant and School Based Interpreter with Indianapolis Public Schools at Harshman Middle School. In this role, he worked closely with Spanish speaking families and school staff to ensure that critical information was communicated clearly, accurately, and equitably. Through this work, he developed a strong commitment to language justice and equity, helping ensure that families and students not only received information but walked away feeling heard, understood, and fully supported.

 

Johnson holds a Master’s degree in Second Language Acquisition, Policy, and Culture and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Indianapolis. He is TESOL certified, trained in Cultural Awareness, and further strengthened his linguistic and cultural expertise through language and cultural studies in Seville, Spain.

 

With more than a decade of experience in language education, Johnson has taught adult and community language courses, developed language curriculum, and provided professional development and training for language educators. His work focuses on equipping learners and institutions with the tools necessary to communicate across languages and cultures with confidence and competence.

 

Johnson was recognized by the Indianapolis Business Journal as one of the city’s 20 in Their Twenties, highlighting his growing influence in language education and cross cultural communication.
